Whistler, Calgary to host bobsled, skeleton World Cup events next season By: THE CANADIAN PRESS

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Canada's two Winter Games cities will play host to the World Cup bobsled and skeleton circuit next season.

The announcement was made in Vancouver Wednesday by B.C. Minister of Healthy Living and Sport Ida Chong and Alberta Tourism Minister Cindy Ady.

The provinces of B.C. and Alberta have committed the funds for the two events, under a joint Olympic legacy agreement they signed in 2009.

The agreement was meant to ensure the two provinces' investments in their respective sliding centres would be used to attract international competitions and tourism dollars to the area.

The first event will take place Nov. 22 to Nov. 25 in Whistler, and the second Nov. 29 to Dec. 5 in Calgary.

Both provinces say they're looking for other events that could potentially make use of Olympic venues, such as biathlon and cross-country world cups, and they hope to have a report on those opportunities finished in May.
